Start which: Ryan Grant, Chris Henry (TEN) or DeShaun Foster?
Note: To give you a sense, our league scoring system is awards 5 points for a 100-yard game, but 10 for a 40-yard game with TD. Not sure if that's completely standard.
I've got 4 RBs, and 2 RBs I want to start:
Brian Westbrook (PHI)
Ryan Grant (GB)
Chris Henry (TEN)
DeShaun Foster (CAR)
I think Westbrook's a for-sure starter. Grant ran well in his first game and his running style is nice. Henry has scored once in each game he's in, despite only spelling Lendale White. Foster is pretty dependable, but average.
Which 2 to start?
Just to clarify, in my point system if a RB gets:
If he gets 100 yards without a TD, he scores 5 points. If he gets 40 yards with a TD, he scores 10 points.
Westbrook is an every week starter so you only have to worry about one spot.
Based solely on matchups, Grant against KC is not a very good matchup. KC's D has been really solid against the run. Chris Henry may have the best matchup against Carolina's porous D but he's a backup to fatboy LenDale White. It's possible he breaks off a big play or two but with limited carries its not a safe play. Foster has been dependable but against a top 3 rush defense in Tennessee, he's going to get stopped a lot.
So after all that, it looks like a crap shoot. Who do you take? A 3rd down back with a decent matchup or an average guy with a terrible matchup. Or a guy that just had a career rushing day that has a tough matchup? I'd go with Grant as some point in that game KC has to be more worried about getting burned through the air than the run.
